Re: Astrophotography from a roof terrace

It is quite intuitive to practicing imagers that Bortle class do vary over our small island. (Refer rifleman175's A Method of Determining the Bortle Class at my Observation Site), i do agree with rifleman's finding that "the light pollution at Senkang is around Bortle 7.0 at altitude of 55 deg...

Re: Astrophotography from a roof terrace

Hi Bernard, Very nice images. I'd actually venture to guess that it's really Bortle 7 to 8 at you location rather than Bortle 9 from your images. I'd suggest that you start stacking more than 30 subs (1 hour at 30 s is 120 images, 3 hours is 360 images) and then process offline. Looking at your dat...

Astrophotography from a roof terrace

My second attempt at astrophotography from our Bortle 9 skies. Nothing fancy, just UV/IR filter with uncooled zwo585mc camera, sharpstar 61edph iii w reducer/flattener (FL 268mm, F3.9), iOptron cem26 (unguided). All without darks, flats etc, unprocessed other than live-stack using asiair mini. Omega...

Re: Best weather app for AP in Singapore

It was clear until just after midnight, when patchy clouds started to drift in. At that point, I called it a night and packed up. It was also getting very balmy [smilie=hot.gif]

btw, my photos from last night are in this thread :)

Re: Best weather app for AP in Singapore

So much for the iOS weather app and our Meteorological Service. A few hours after I posted, the forecast for the night changed from partly cloudy to cloudy, and it actually started raining at 11.30pm :(

Re: Best weather app for AP in Singapore

If the iOS weather app’s precipitation map suggests light or little cloud cover for the night, I check the skies every 1-2 hours to see if skies are mostly transparent. I find that the equatorial weather here is just too changeable for any forecast to be reliable predictor of clear skies. If the ski...

Re: Best weather app for AP in Singapore

There was reasonably good skies around southern skies on 29-04-2024 from about 10pm to 1am. I manage to make a few quick snaps of a few objects in the vicinity. All taken with Askar FMA180 Pro with UV/IR filter on ZWO585MC (non-cooled), unguided. Mount: iOptron CEM26 with ZWO Asiair Mini. https://ph...
