Re: Solar cycle 25

AR 2924 has moved nearer to the western limbs and developed beta-gamma magnetic fields which have energy for M-class flares. Caught it flaring : https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEit3qZG5LlAs4-z7KbqcB5PLtLah6_37ITuKXNwhMgqmxwAeFciz6Nsa4sBgs1tU3JQ6uEt0H74OzmrdRC_MwY2H7zBk7LBQ0SCx81Jt4f...

Re: Solar cycle 25

During the Christmas period, the Sun was covered with as many as 10 sunspots in both hemisphere. Unfortunately the weather was poor and I did not manage to do any imaging. This is how the Sun looks this week. https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgB1W7Zf_NxVCzojHVKjESi_Nqo-35SfmGmfKbDAC8...

Re: Solar cycle 25

Hi Alfred By the way, that small unnamed sunspot in the southern belt mentioned is designed as sunspot 2919. Hi Mr Chia, Thanks for your comments. Going through the video recording, I found a bird transit recording. Sunspot 2919 was also recorded :) https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXs...

Re: Solar cycle 25

Dear Mr Chia, Thank you for a comprehensive report. I also did a 3-wavelength full-disk imaging session. From left - 540nm (photosphere), 393.4nm (lower chromosphere) and 656.28 nm (upper chromosphere): https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjjAG2QFFe5wCzhKftsFjQsLaQ47EPcTAT8BEnE-EpgLwjEF...

Re: Solar cycle 25

9 Dec - Comparing HA images from Daystar Quark and Solar Spectrum SUNA. Today I finally managed to use the Quark and Solar Spectrum SUNA etalons with the C11 in the same imaging session. First the images taken with the Quark: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjTuIu-ZZknhrCiejwABpr1HK...

Re: Solar cycle 25

Hi Mr Chia and solar enthusiasts, 7Dec - There was a 1 hour imaging window interspersed with thin clouds. I used the Solar Spectrum H-Alpha SUNA (0.65 Angstrom) on a Celestron C11 fitted with a full-aperture D-ERF for this session. On this day, the features of the Sun look like one from a solar mini...

Re: Solar cycle 25

Sun, 1 Dec 2021. In 540nm...... Sunspot 2899and 2900 visible as 3 sunspots at the edge of the southern belt. All three showed umbra with a small penumbra. In the northern belt, only sunspot 2902 is visible to me as 3 ultra tiny spots with no penumbra. I can't see 2901 and 2903 honestly. In Cak........

Re: Solar cycle 25

Glad to see solar observing promoting in schools. Great work Alfred. As of this sunspot cycle, its quite disappointing as the sunspots are SMALL. Activities are low if compared to the previous cycle. Prominences are also small and long filaments are relatively rare. As such, l am quite happy that l...

Re: Solar cycle 25

This was another HR image taken with a C11 (with full-aperture D-ERF) and a Solar Spectrum SUNA etalon. The SUNA is a relatively new product from Solar Spectrum. So far I have not seen any images taken by users using a SUNA fitted to a SCT. I will be testing it thoroughly. https://blogger.googleuser...
