Re: GSO 10" newt or Skywatcher 10" newt?
Wah i just went to Toa Payoh Watsons last weekend.. Will keep a lookout... BTW, my wife saw you and the Queue last week at Toa Payoh sidewalk... hehe. Haha. More importantly did she look through any of the scopes deployed? Not really coz she's not interested even in Saturn. Just overheard auntie as...

Re: GSO 10" newt or Skywatcher 10" newt?
Hi Vivid. Just curious, other than the rooftop and skybridges, is there a decent location at ground level? If yes, then you may consider wacking the 16" dob for planets at ground level and don't let the roof top restructions restrict your options? 1st floor compared to 26 or 55 floor should no...

Re: GSO 10" newt or Skywatcher 10" newt?
For f/5 & f/4.7 newtonians, some people are satisfied without a coma corrector. Try borrow one here to check it yourself before you buy one. The Paracorr is better than MPCC on two counts: (1) MPCC does not fully correct for spherical aberration (SA); this is apparent at high magnification, Par...

Re: GSO 10" newt or Skywatcher 10" newt?
Thanks for all the brainstorming and ideas guys,!! :D Hmm... yes, the Omega Centauri is faint in Singapore, but not as bad as you describe and can still be quite impressive (can still see thousands of stars... but a bit faint) if the weather is good and viewing location is reasonable dark. What magn...

Re: GSO 10" newt or Skywatcher 10" newt?
Dobs cannot go through my turnstile. Also the management would not let me use the disabled access gate. If can I go whack 16" liao. :D The AR152 is only 100mm shorter than the 10" newt. From what i see on my setup here with the AR152 pointing straight up it's ok...coz the 10" newt EP ...

Re: New Meade 130mm APO Triplet with mount and guidescope
Maybe the usd99,999 price is correct. They put the aperture wrongly, it's actually 1300mm. That's cheap.

Re: Binoculars and lightning
No problem. But I viewed RWS fireworks through my 7 x 50 (think that's about 7mm exit pupil, ie bright). Bright like s***, left some bright flash spots on the retina and spoilt my ob. But luckily quite late already and ending the obs. Thinking of getting a 20 x 80. Barska cosmos 20 x 80. Wanted to g...

@vivid. Yea. Seeing was good friday after midnight, i.e. saturday early morning. Did you stay up during 1.30am - 3.30am? Nope so far I have not stayed past 11.30 for my obs. Past 2 nights were very good "cloudwise" but pity about the haze, eg last night was decent till about 8.30pm when t...
