Re: Astrophotography Choice : Nikon D7200 vs D750 vs D50p

Hello! Broadly speaking they are all fairly similar, with perhaps the edge going to the D750 because of better low light performance due to its larger pixels. However, the most important question to ask is: Why do you want to upgrade your camera? Is it because you want a better camera for general us...

Re: Vacuum seal a telescope?

A small scope like that can be easily stored in a larger Ziplock bag. I bought mine at Daiso, 2 pieces at $2 which was large enough to house my Orion 80mm ST with telescope rings. For dehumidifying I placed some Silica gel in an empty teapot sized teabag which again I bought from Daiso. This kept th...

Re: Telescope and Mount Suggestions

Hello! Visual and Astrophotography are really 2 separate branches of astronomy - Visual requires large aperture. The bigger the aperture, the better you see. Focal ratio is not important as it only determines the magnificantion and field of view. Photography however requires fast focal ratios. Imagi...

Very nice!
Wow, you have a CaK filter? Are you using a Daystar Quark or similar for your HA Eatalon?

Re: Light pollution in Singapore

Agree with Mariner. A higher magnification will result in a darker background as everything gets dimmer. It can improve the contrast but the effect is limited and you will not see very much dimmer stars. Aperture is the key. The bigger the aperture, the more stars you will see. You don't need a very...

Re: What filters would you buy?

I'd suggest the UHC as pretty much the only filter you need. In my opinion, an LPR doesn't do very much while the planetary color filters distort the picture by changing the color. UHC works well to enhance nebulosity as long as you have sufficient aperture, which you do in that 6" newt. O3 fil...

Re: Solar filters - worth it or not?

Hello! The great thing about solar observing is never, never cut corners and try to cheap out. Permanent damage may occur instantly if any of your equipment is insufficient or fails while observing. If you're going to do solar, then I strongly suggest use well established equipment of good repute. T...

Re: A versatile scope for beginner

Hello! With regards to a scope for $350: If you can stretch it a bit I'd recommend the Skywatcher 130p table top Dob: Its just under $400 and will provide significantly more aperture than the 90mm. It will, however require collimation and will benefit from some shrouding. I have one and when collima...

Wow! That is a good deal! This head would be ideal for those sky tracker/polarie type heads since it allows fairly fine adjustment for polar alignment. I tried putting it to cart. With economy shipping it's S$180+ delivered!
