Re: My astrophotography 2021

2021-4-13 A stroll with the family in the Lower Seletar Park after dinner. The western sky was covered by high clouds, and a chance of watching a magnificent sunset eluded us. How about the moon just passed the new moon (the previous day was New Moon) at <2% illuminated? Surely it was quite low in a...

Re: My astrophotography 2021

By adding color data from ESO, it turns out a beautiful galaxy image. Disclaimer: This is not my astrophotograph, at least not completely. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3e-O3AKFGt1H4U3ib1BSKSo7sfspLTjrAwLxM56oEbXPBWM_mkGTIB7L3CI8gf6OMk37IBNw9HSHg1WQB3QE45k3HCxfyXtUfEf-_bF9vYv_yXCMonYNkcS...

Re: My astrophotography 2021

NGC4945 a bright and large galaxy not far away (11.7M light-years only). First time trying the remote observatory ATEO. Chose a 20" scope x (4x10min) exposures. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3dCjeaXgcUvDIxakgPtiNgKY2lPlFYCxnFMxmAMbcmSd5UPN3SjECiVxE7bMtRxSasBB2IzAdkR94Q-8TS56Buau6LJp_GelP...

Re: My astrophotography 2021

Now it becomes interesting to compare the best eyes out there with my small refractor. Yes, Hubble in space vs a small APO from poor Singapore's conditions. Just for fun! At the centre is the aforementioned pair of stars ~3" apart that are barely separated in my image. https://lh3.googleusercontent....

Re: My astrophotography 2021

100% crop of the central region of M3 image. Just try to figure out how much resolving power to expect practically from Singapore if I continue to use this scope or upgrade to something bigger. Lower to the centre lies a pair of orange-color stars barely well separated. They are measured 3" apart. I...

Re: My astrophotography 2021

Aha, finish the unfinished M97 the owl nebula by borrowing color info from public domain. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3dkE8lz2qtVYQqaFSJFa_hTrA577WxZBA2TNbKH4I0mKXM_3rGz4E3R5MrKpyGHbA_AgsT1ufKrGczVjfmIxLv__CQPtsy2CEjTd94a34l7CnjYQ257OGW3HTZtC8fdwSos-JZvOquEf_0KWlLYXwl20Q=w689-h918-no?a...

Re: My astrophotography 2021

M104. Shot 18x120s (L) before I checked the gears and astonished by the water condensation everywhere. But I began to question my own sanity shooting the skies under the poor conditions (light pollutions, humidity). Shall I revisit the target again when clear skies come upon Singapore in the next fe...

Re: My astrophotography 2021

NGC3201, in the deep southern sky, much affected by light pollutions. Otherwise, it should appear more "globular". Now it looks more like an open cluster. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3eBfOPWdpn6lpFTzg3RrztkfWIvvwb3L4PQysOjKrWAu0VL20vOm8EtPrJ3XLuIF4DM9VJpt2mQJVLxhnty9SwJhhrI0Y4uU-SO3xxQ...

Also shot some deep sky objects. But only managed to complete for two.

Re: My astrophotography 2021

Luhman 16 is one of the nearest stars, just after the Alpha Centauri system and the Barnard's star. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_nearest_stars_and_brown_dwarfs There is another brown drawf, WISE 0855−0714, just next to Luhman 16 on the list. But completely out of reach -- mag 25 in J-band -...
