Re: M42 and some questions

Thanks Ivan for the detailed reply. Seems like I have my directions mixed up, need to read a few times to wrap my head around it. Will attempt it a few more times to make more sense of it. No problem. It's difficult to explain these in words, but my main tip would be to really familiarise yourself ...

Re: M42 and some questions

I recommend you get at least 1.5 hours of integration time, more if sky conditions are suboptimal. 60 seconds for each sub is acceptable for Singapore skies. With your 13 mins of data, I can see a hint of the flame nebula appearing. As for drift, you need to know where the N/S/E/W directions are on ...

M17 and IC 4628 from the window

Thanks Richard! We are seeing more clearer skies this month, so I have managed to add more data to NGC 6188, and I have replaced the images with the newer ones in the previous post. On top of that, here are a couple more from this season. There's still time before they're gone from the sky this year...

NGC 6188 in SHO

This year's summer season hasn't been particularly great weather-wise for Singapore. But there were a couple of good nights, and perhaps another handful of average nights which were still acceptable for imaging. Here's NGC 6188 and NGC 6164-5, the first of this year's summer objects from my window. ...

Nice capture of the opposition! Interesting results...I'd be splitting hairs to tell any difference between the OSC and mono

Re: Looking for an upgrade

Yeah I was referring to this site. It's a bit slow because SG is small, but if you're not in a hurry you might find something that fits your requirements.

Re: Looking for an upgrade

Hi, It would be helpful if you could share what objects you'd prefer looking at. For example, if you're mostly interested in planets, a Mak (or any long focal length scope) would do better than a Newt of the same aperture. In most cases, you'd also want to get more aperture. The NexStar 4se falls sh...
