Re: Moon Table.

If you used a digital camera, you can set a faster exposure speed and avoid the whiteout. The other way is to put a cardboard with a smaller hole at the front end of the scope to reduce the light. Depending on the lens design, you may have severe vignetting, so there may be a need to move your came...

Re: Moon Table.

Over-exposed but still a nice attempt. [smilie=good-job.gif] Try shooting through ND moon filter. Play with exposure value and ISO settings in your phone camera if possible. Thank you Sir! Note well taken. Btw, I tried snapping with a digital camera but not successful. Only smart phone seems to be ...

Re: Unexplainable moving object near moon - 0300hrs, 19Apr14

Hi,Longislandtea70 Indeed,I think what you see might be a UFO or else --no explanation. You are using a spoting scope and perhaps have the whole moon in your FOV.Now as you said--it transit the WHOLE moon in 5 Minute. If you take the diameter if the moon into consideration and calculate the speed of ...

Re: Unexplainable moving object near moon - 0300hrs, 19Apr14

Good points. I stand corrected. Still, it would have been a nice thought. On the other hand, although the object itself would be invisible in a telescope, I wonder given such a bright background whether the eye might actually see something, or its shadow, for that matter. Could have been floaters i...

Unexplainable moving object near moon - 0300hrs, 19Apr14.

Dear all, Was with a friend checking out the moon with my new scope early this morning. What we saw which we don't understand - saw this very fine black dot moving on the lower hemisphere of the moon, it seems to be going around like every 5mins or so. Not trying anything funny here but we just coul...

Re: Telescope for Moon.

Dear Gary, antares2063, cloud_cover and beginner, thank you all for your valuable advice, very much appreciated! I attended last Friday's session at science center and is more certain I m going to get a reflector scope for my need, as I will make observation more from the beach as well. Will target ...

Re: Telescope for Moon.

Hi LongIslandTea70. Welcome to the forum! I don't think there is telescope designed to be weather proof. It's up to the telescope owner responsibility to take good care of the telescope and seek/gain the proper knowledge to do so. There are some fog proof designs in binoculars though. Some stargazer...
