Thanks I know. But this is too bulky for my needs and takes up too much room. I think my casual needs can be fulfilled by a tabletop telescope or a smaller aperture one..maybe even 76mm. So I'm going ahead with selling this for 300.

I think Gary (?) has a loan program. the telescope is a 70mm one so it should suffice. but you'll have to queue for it as there is a waiting list.

thanks everyone, I do have an iphone app called Star Chart. Haven't tried it yet though. I think the Meade lx 80 is a bit too high for me atm. I'm looking for entry scopes as I have other costly hobbies (collecting 1/18 diecast cars and star wars models) so I really cannot afford to invest that much...

ok now i think im really torn between the 2.

would a powerseeker 114 az suffice for a beginner? as in, would i find myself "chasing" after objects further than the moon when i use an AZ? Cheap EQ seems to still have better tracking than cheap AZ?

how do you feel about your mount? =D
