Re: iOptron HAE 29 Strain Wave Gear Mount

Hi Alfred.

It weights only around 3 kg. I used their online calculator, probably not accurate. It's good to know the actual shipping fee is more reasonable. Thanks 🙏

Re: iOptron HAE 29 Strain Wave Gear Mount

Their HAZ31 mount is very attractive, since I do mostly visual astronomy. It will be perfect for my use, without burning a hole in my wallet. Just curious on the actual shipping fee you paid, Alfred, if you don't mind sharing. IOptron is quoting around $500 USD 😅. I've shipped a 13 kg equipment to C...

Re: iOptron HAE 29 Strain Wave Gear Mount (Rainbow, ZWO & iOptron comparison added on 20 Dec)

Thanks for the detailed explanation Alfred. I'm surprised the HEM27 is similar to RainbowAstro in terms of weight.

Re: iOptron HAE 29 Strain Wave Gear Mount (new video & images added on 15 Dec)

If traveling is your main concern, why did you pick this mount over the AM5 or RainbowAstro? The cost?

Re: Strut-String DOB250

Nice work. Is it still airline portable? Looks quite bulky. Also, with the mirror so exposed, do you have dew issue?

Just wondering, where did you go for machining? Any good local shop?
