joachim.ong wrote: Sun Sep 25, 2022 4:28 pm Great job, it's really quite fantastic for a 6 inch scope. I think you've nailed most of the process, so it'll mainly be down to seeing. Observing location has a huge impact on seeing too.

Upgrade path for planetary/dso

so, i own a nexstar 6se which i use for planetary imaging with a asi462mc. i know to venture into dso ap, one would require a completely different setup. but im looking to phase in the equipment change, meaning to reuse the current equipment as much as possible, and choosing my purchases to benefit ...

Re: Planetary Beginnings

Ah thanks! I was thinking if I have "milked" my scope to its limit. Could I sharpen more through focus? Play around with exposure and gain? More frames to stack or less? Or just wait for better seeing conditions?

Planetary Beginnings

New to this, appreciate any tips from the folks here! Since generally, my photos don't look that sharp. Re: Beginner/Amateur Setup 2022

Stretching it to 300x, i have taken pics of Saturn and Jupiter but frankly I feel the 6se could do more. Not sure if it has to do with collimation, viewing conditions, or lack of the right filter. Jupiters bands aee barely visible and she was extra bright to the point of glare. Saturn ring division ...

Re: Beginner/Amateur Setup 2022

So, a mixed bag of feelings. Brought my scope to Astro where even the technical staff was not confident of restoring the optics, and would have set me back 300 bucks. Really felt lousy to have dealt for a run down scope for that cost (my newbie mistake). But, fortunately I chanced upon a senior star...

Re: Beginner/Amateur Setup 2022

Well, i got the 6SE in the end. But, some painful lessons learnt. Red dot finder wasn't working, Powertank wasn't working. So I gotta find replacements for those. Should be quite easy. During cleaning I lost alignment of the corrector, tried to maintain it back as much as I could, hopefully didn't k...
