3D printing mounting rings
has someone tried 3D printing mounting rings for camera lenses like the samyang 135mm, canon 200mm or sigma 135mm lenses. I saw a plenty of videos about astrodymium, hyperpod, astrokraken (i hope I got it right), but the shipping etc is a bummber. I have been thinking of getting a 3D printer for som...

Re: Comparison between 102achro, ed100apo, mak127 SkyWatcher
very nice comparison. I think the ed100 doublet is fantastic scope. though I also loved the orion 120ST. despite being an achromat, it was a fun scope, fast at f/5, short and easily to grab and setup. but I had better views through the ed100 doublet of the luna. I have pondered a number of times abo...

Re: Portable battery power (star tracker, asiair, guidescope)
for a star tracker like skywatcher star adventurer, I have used an anker 28600mha power bank. Found a usbA to mini usb (thats the port on star avdventurer, a usbc- power plug (one of asiair pro) and it worked fine for some 3-4 hours. very portable as well. I used the same for az-gti and asi air pro ...

WTB TSFlat2 field flattener
Anyone has a tsflat2 field flattened to let go. I m looking for visual use and not for Astro photography. The ap field flatterers usually have 55mm back focus. I am not interested in thhose. I am trying to use tsflat2 and connect it straight to my diagonal. If you have one lying around, please let m...

Re: Comparison between 102achro, ed100apo, mak127 SkyWatcher
interesting.. I had a different experience. The ED100 f/9 doublet have such good views of jupiter/saturn and moon that I was tempted to upgrade to sw120ed. but I havent tried the 5mm bundled eyepiece. I use a 10mm UFF or celestron 8-24mm zoom most of the time and with them the views are excellent.

Re: Eyepieces from binoculars and modification.
very interesting.. are these eyepieces as sharp as the ones designed for telescopes. I see a good number of posts using microscope objesctives in telescopes (with some 23.5mm to 1.25mm adapter), but a binocular eyepiece is definitely new for me.

Re: Skywatcher EQ-AL55 Mount
I agree with frqaf_bfds, now most mount manufacturers provide a low altitude option. Ioptron has number of mounts that can be used at equator. Likewise most of the newer strain wave mounts like zwo also support low latitude ooerations

Re: AsiAir Alternative: Mini Windows PC
This is interesting. I used a standard raspberry li4 for stellarmate but always wished if it would have more power ports. This mini pc not only has USB ports but also has power out ports which is handy for building a portable rig.
