WTS: Software Bisque MyT Mount with Berlebach Tripod

I've decided to let go of my premium mount as I don't use it enough to justify keeping it. I'm sure it will benefit someone else much more. It delivers fantastic pointing accuracy and tracking. But you wouldn't expect anything less of a MyT! General info: - Software Bisque MyT purchased in 2019 (Cla...

Solar Observations

Here is a latest attempt at solar imaging. https://astrob.in/ol67c4/B/rawthumb/gallery/get.jpg?insecure Wondering if someone who uses Hydrogen Alpha scopes can suggest why one side of the image is softer. I can't seem to get the whole disk in sharp focus. Could it be sensor tilt? However, the camera...

Re: Roll-Off Roof Observatory in Singapore

Thanks for your comments! It has been great being able to have a system ready to go when the skies are clear. Always a little apprehension of operating it remotely, though! Over the past few months, I had to replace the roof and insulate it. And some of the DIY electronic components like the weather...

ISS Transit and AR2759

This past Saturday, I made a trip to Kranji Dam to catch my first ISS solar transit! Here is one of the frames I managed to capture with a more detailed view of AR2759 superimposed on it. https://astrob.in/b8wusy/B/rawthumb/gallery/get.jpg?insecure There is a link to my blog on from the Astrobin pag...

Lunar Explorations

The weather in Singapore has been pretty uncooperative for astrophotography these past few weeks, with only short windows of clear skies. Hence, I've turned to Lunar imaging to make use of the limited imaging time. Here are a couple of recent images (they link to a more extensive write up on my blog...

Are Dew Heaters Required in the Tropics

Just wondering if, in your experience, dew heaters are required to use scopes in the tropics? Or would dew shields suffice?

I'm thinking along the lines of refractors, SCTs, and Mak-Newts (tubes with a piece of glass exposed at the front).

Thanks!
