Re: Filters for DSLR Imaging in Singapore

Hi Ger, i saw your M42 from Mersing, very nice, can see the Running man distinctly. Pertain to your question on filters for SG Sky, i find Celestron UHC filter very effective for Red spectral Nebula, although read from somewhere you need at least 100 mm aperture to use it, but i find it okay with my...

Re: Tarantula Nebula - very bright on 27 Feb 2015

Thanks Ivan, one word to describe 27 Feb 2015 South West view from Bedok South field, shiok uh ! [smilie=admire.gif] , i made 25 captures ranging from 14s to 120s, you can see that even the 14s is able to get something out of it (but looks like the cluster, not sure), as for the 120s, it is over exp...

Re: Tarantula Nebula - very bright on 27 Feb 2015

Thanks Airconvent, yah :) , i must admit that i was quite excited to image this object since about 5 years ago with security cam for a start, as it resides in the LMC, which is quite challenging most of the time. The spider like core is now very bright once the cloud is blown away, saw it on 27th & ...

Re: Tarantula Nebula - very bright on 27 Feb 2015

Hello Charlie, it is the field facing Block 163 Bedok South Road, has a clear fov for Southern Sky, has quite a high level of light pollution, only good for practice shots as you noticed from my pics the green patch caused by l.p. very difficult to remove. Once gain competency, we may have to visit ...

Tarantula Nebula - very bright on 27 Feb 2015

Caught this spider at Bedok South on Friday night, the object is bright all the while, but is always covered up by cloud due to it low lying Dec of approx -69 deg. Since the weather is now getting better, it should be easily captured using 300 mm focal length onwards when the cloud band becomes thin...

Re: iOptron SkyTracker / SkyGuider (Drift Alignment)

Hi yyD70s, Welcome to Singastro Community :) as i have little knowledge on the above, may be some other fellow Singastrorian can help ? If remember correctly, Dave and looyaa had used the Vixen Polarie instead and had produced some very nice results (in Nebula, Comets etc), so may be you would like ...

Re: Comet C/2014 Q2 from Changi Beach - 17 Jan 2015

Thanks Orly, yah, Changi sea-side North sky is not bad, but once the mount do a Meridian crossing flip & enter into North West Sector, the light pollution from the street lamps along the sea-side pour in, so can only do North East portion before transit. Better if we can go to darker sites, so that ...
