Since you seem to know what you're getting into i strongly reccomend to just bite the bullet and go with the 6SE or any other big scope with goto. Even with the star adventurer 400mm is quite a stretch... But if you're resourceful enough then never say never. I guess it depends on your expectations too. Good luck!

Not an uncommon thing to do on trips to malaysia although that's only for a day or two. I think the main concern would be the electronics if it sits outside for too long.
