I checked the cable again and decided to do a DIY.. Got a Rj12 connector, a cable crimper.. Cut the cable, from where I suspected it was broken and crimped a new rj12 connector.

Attached to the port and viola it comes to life..

I was told that though the mounts go down to 1deg, we need to use a pier to raise the mount so that counterweights dont hit the tripod. there are some wonderful youtube reviews which all say that az eq6 inherits the same performance as the eq6 R pro. I am not sure if tilting the mount...
