Thanks for your suggestions. 3D printing is an interesting idea.

Re: Where to buy Losmandy or Astro-physics GEM mounts

I'm exploring this also. I have found that BH Photo in the US has ridiculously low shipping rates. I have been a long time customer of theirs from the days they had photography products only. However, these are just online-retailers. Alternatively, there are some specialist shops overseas that will ...

Fabricating Low Latitude Wedges for Equatorial Mount

I've been considering getting an equatorial mount as a replacement for my Alt-Az mount. It seems like some of the mounts like the EQ6-R can't reach our 1 deg north latitude and a custom built wedge will be required. Would anyone have advice on where to fabricate such a custom built wedge if the manu...

White Light Sunspot

Following up on an earlier post on the beginner forum, here is one of my attempts at a white light image of a recent active region. I was really quite surprised at the detail that could be captured. https://astrob.in/334450/0/rawthumb/gallery/get.jpg?insecure Unfortunately, the sun has been rather q...

Wow!

How did you go about capturing these photos? Is there a guide that you could point me to?

Thanks!

Borrowing/Loaning Equipment for Private Stargazing Event

Some people from my church are planning a stargazing session for our primary/secondary school children and friends at the end of May. We have access to a couple of SCTs and are looking to borrow/lease a few more telescopes. I'm wondering if any have suggestions about who we might be able to approach...

Re: Storage for telescope to prevent fungus buildup

Hi! I try to keep the tube in a dry cabinet. That's probably the best way to keep it dry overall. This has kept my camera lenses fungus-free for more than 10 years. Another alternative (though I'm not sure how effective) is to keep it in a plastic bag (e.g. the packaging it came with) with a big pac...

Re: Advice on Solar Observation in Singapore

For what it's worth, here is a white light picture I took during a brief period of sun in this rainy season. Waiting for the dry season!

Thanks Chia!

Yes, there is plenty to learn even when starting with white light.

Will seek your experience when I decide to go further.
