One thing that is useful to check is the apparent size of the object. For example the object may be 8 minutes big.. so you can estimate which eyepiece to use on your telescope to be able to frame up the object; most objects differ in size rather greatly. But of cos you need to know the true FOV (Cal...

I started to be interested in astronomy during my army days.... was in thailand during an army exercise and saw many shooting stars. The most memorable one was seeing a huge fireball. At that time, I did not know it was the Leonids and it was my first time seeing shooting stars... it was only after ...

I saw three (2 of them from Perseids, another probably random) meteors from 2am to 3am on Saturday night. Hi, Been to the Fremont peak a few times. About 1h plus of driving from San Jose. Nice place and cooling. The sky there is darker than San Jose especially when the fog cover the city lights. The sad part was that I did not get a chance to use the big scope in the observatory as I had to 'take care' ...

Yah.. it is THEORY... Many things like evolution, can't be proven but theory is as estimation of what people can understand; or rather people can't find a way to explain it. For me, I just enjoy the observation and the beauty of the cosmos. I do not dwell in too much of the theory. The scientist can...

I would like to know if the UA microstar is able to support a C5 with 50mm finderscope, TV EP, diagonal, focal reducer, dot finder, and perhaps if possible a SLR camera body with adaptor to take terrestrial pictures? Or is the UA unistar light more suitable for such a payload? I also have collimated...
