Annoying dark bands in astrophotos from Canon M50
I noticed something like a narrow darken bar overlay in my stacked photos. At home I took dark frames, dark flat frames, flat frames and bias frames. After applying these frames to stacking, the dark bar overlay just did not go away. I then set to investigate it to understand what went wrong. In my ...

How precious are clear night skies in Singapore?
I had never been so interested in (somewhat obsessed with) clear night skies. When I started taking long exposure pictures of the stars in late Jan this year and then enjoyed a stretch of nice nights in Feb till March, I did not know that, over the following months from April to now in August, clear...

Re: The Andromeda Galaxy M31
Nice shot! The outer spiral arms are difficult to capture under the bright sky glow in Singapore.

Re: Two sleepless nights
Lessons learnt about the importance of proper processes for flat and dark frames. Many frames see little values. Removing light pollution gradient is still an art to learn. Additional two pictures. The milky way central region. Worthwhile another more serious attempt. https://lh3.googleusercontent.c...

Two sleepless nights
Two clear sky nights. Time well spent learning astrophotography. The moon is annoying for deep skys but on the other hand always the easiest target for high resolution imaging. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3e8O4Io0z6jgo6m0ExM0NjxL5o19apCl6AE7ohdSpac64M6ZuCFzI4SZBL37eydN0EjKClQLwyLwxrpU2...

Our dear galactic centre region. Amazing shot from the poor light pollution situation here.

2020-Jul-30 Neowise and Moon
Finally caught a glimpse of the fading great comet of Neowise. Through the eyepiece, it was nothing but a featureless fuzzy blob with distinctive aqua color. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3eMoTTWZKDNId2WoOb8jKrvoTv6jSPi_Wjl6LAqHtX576SLrs4s7RW3LRho9W9LvqB_SxYDVwJ-8pwJPsGK3WKYAzDS5zctVVZg6...

Re: Naked-eye Galaxy Nova (AAVSO Alert Notice 711)
This early morning ~6AM caught a glimpse of this galaxy nova. Through binocular it looked just shy of the brightness of a nearby mag6.0 star. CCD photometry gave an estimate of mag 6.3. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3evmD2lIqIXpNAn_ucsjftWKRBXQ_DXWdXGeQAVRlu3-n4yNaTZ2jc149MYD19L7vvJQzMpB...
