I just saw the most drool-worthy binos ever at Canon @ Low Yat.. dunno how much they cost in SG. Canon 10x42L IS WP. 3999 RM!!! (comes out to be US$ 1210, compared to Amazon price of $ 1190. Almost the same and no shipping headaches.. but for US$ 1200 I'd rather find an LX-90 or C8 to buy..

I just saw a bushnell 20x80 with center column in the duty free in Terminal 1 a few minutes ago.. for $428. Kinda expensive compared to say Garrett or Oberwerk but it's already in Singapore, no futzing around with VPost etc.

Airconvent, I will call the shop tomorrow. I've been traveling the past couple weeks so no time... not sure if they can do actual machining or if they only can do cutting and drilling.

I'd go with binoculars. And maybe a "Sky Window" mount from tricomachine.com so you don't break your neck looking up.

any machinist in SG to do some minor machining work?

I got this wooden-legged Vixen tripod with an "Icarus" 60mm refractor for a low, low price back in Philippines (it was roughly 90 SGD for the tripod and OTA). The problem is that the alt-az mount, though it's decent and has slo-mo for both Altitude and Azimuth, was made specifically for th...

will a PC-164 EX2 get close to a Mallincam?

Supercircuits is selling this PC-164 EX2 (0.00001 lux, Sony EXVIEW Super-HAD) for about $140 US. It's the latest generation PC-164 video camera. I understand say the Mallincam Jr has a less sensitive lux rating but it does in-camera integration. But the Mallincam Jr is $500 US and the full-blown Mal...

where to buy "Universe" by Freedman and Kaufmann?

I need to get "Universe" 8th edition by Freedman and Kaufmann.

This is a $100-odd book at Amazon and weighs a lot (so shipping would be expensive too).

Is there any local bookshop which would carry such texts?

WTB: Wood or fiberglass tripod

hi, Does anyone know where I can buy something like a used surveyor's tripod? I need a tripod for my EQ mount and the usual suspects (Benro et. al.) are way too expensive once you get into the 20 lb range. I notice on ebay US that wood tripods off surveying equipment sells very cheap (under $50 US) ...

I did try to adjust the 15x70s. But I could never get them "quite" right, they still were headache inducers. I think the A-P (if still available) is the best buy in the 70mm class. The Fujinon FMT-SX has been my object of desire :-) but haven't gotten the justification to spring for $600 U...
