Sorry to hear of your condition. If you do go for the surgery in the end, go for the standard single vision lens implant. Do not go for the multi-focal implant. It is terrible for astro use!

Perhaps if you send out a 'Want To Buy' (WTB) post in our Buy/Sell forum, you may be able to get a good small apo at a good price.

Are you collimating straight through or with diagonal? If the diagonal is not flat, it may cause problems with collimation. I can't help much. I have not used that scope before.
