Hi Thanks to all of you for your valuable advise. Looks like they are a comparable scope. What orly_andico said is true... I'm also considering a mount and of course $$$ is a constraint for me. I'm trying to look for a resale Vixen Sphinx Delux mount and see if I can get it at a cheaper price. I hav...

Takahashi or Televue 4" Refractors

Hi After doing some research and attending some star parties.. I have narrowed down to 2 Refractor scopes. Namely Takahashi TSA 102 and Televue NP101. Both in my opinion are very good scopes and I'm torn as to which to choose. The NP101 has a in-build flattener and a fast scope of f5.4. Not sure abo...

Long back focus

This is going to be a very basic question for a newbie like me looking for a telescope. I read in an article of a telescope having a 'long back focus".

What does that mean and why is it good??: )

I use Star Walk. Its a good program and cost only US$1.99. You can point it towards the sky and it will tell you what you are seeing. Alternatively you can program what you want to see and the program guids you by telling you how to move your iphone. Excellent program in my opinion for $1.99.

I think any scope can do AP just to how much details and clarity you want. The VMC200 definately can do AP and visuals well enough for SG skies and will perform better in MY. A second hand VMC OTA will set you back around $1000 with shipping. For R200S you can consult Weixing cos i think he has one...
