AstroSpectroscopy - a type of astrophotography
Recently I started working with spectroscopy, using a DIY grating and a software called RSpec. Since the imaging of the spectra is a type of photography, I thought I'd post it here. However, if this is out of place, please let me know. Anyway, it is easy to make the grating. Details are here: https:...

Nope. I got the shelves from a local carpenter through carousell. The table is from IKEA and has been converted to the rocker box

Re: Building a DIY F/15 Refractor
Actually for a 60mm objective you may be able to get cardboard tubes and infuse it with epoxy resin.

Does anyone know where can i obtain just one aluminium pipe for the project? Clear skies! I've had hardware ship from J...

Digital Setting Circles working with SkySafari
As part of my planetary scope build, I made DSCs for the scope. It uses one gyroscope and one rotary encoder. Firstly, a large gear is fabricated using a timing belt (315 teeth) attached to a wooden disc that was carefully cut for the belt to fit over. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/889/41510384405_...

Balances very well, and seems to have pretty good mechanics. Can't wait to test it out soon!

Re: DIY Barn Door Tracker
Wood: Tombalek.com
Hardware: RS Components or Monotaro
Alignment to Polaris is really only necessary if doing high power and/or super long exposure. In my opinion, neither is recommended for a barndoor tracker. Just point roughly north and level, and shoot wide.

Re: Building a 10-inch F4 Sumerian Alkaid Clone
I finished up the scope in mid March. Brought it to Sentosa in end March during our family staycation, and was able to deploy it in about 15 mins. Pack-up is about 10mins. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4796/25786093657_170242df1b_c.jpg Completed Alkaid clone pointing low by Cyrus Beh , on Flickr He...

Feedback on Excessive Lighting at Night
I started a thread on excessive night time lighting on REACH. I know it's unlikely to achieve much, but if we don't try, we'll never see change!
