Re: New comet C/2012 S1 (ISON) - bright in late 2013
The attachment shows the comet's visibility for Singapore from Nov 1 to Jan 1. For both pre and post perihelion legs the comet is visible in Singapore morning sky. The pre-perihelion stage offers better viewing condition, however, the post-perihelion stage will be a challenge due to low altitude. Mo...

Re: New comet shows promise for 2013
I hope its good news but it might be the opposite. The comet was recently reported to be around mag 9.5 but the IAU's Minor Planet Center states here that its now mag 13.9 (as at 15 Sept 2012): http://minorplanetcenter.org/iau/lists/LastCometObs.html Perhaps the comet has fizzled out or broken up??...

Re: Astro Shots and Time Lapse from East Java
Bromo, LMC and SMC: We chose to go up to the famous viewing platform for Bromo before midnight, with the main purpose to avoid the HEAVY crowd near sunrise hours. That proved to be a very smart decision. We had the place to our own. Though the sky quality was not as good as that of Kawah Ijen, it w...

Re: Astro Shots and Time Lapse from East Java
Kawah Ijen, Blue Flames and Milky Way: The biggest surprise of the trip was no doubt the STARRY sky atop Kawah Ijen Crater Lake. The milky way there doesn't lose to that of Australia. Another phenomenon is the blue sulphur flames in the sulphur mine down near the lake. It was an AWESOME experience t...
