Re: Which one should i buy

Many years ago when i was doing birding, locally we have to walk about 4km total say at Sungei Buloh. My gear is about 9kg total. Some folks might be up to 15kg or so. A 600mm f4 is 5kg, secondary 70-200 f2.8, 2 bodies, 1 tripod with gimbal, bag, flash+flash extender. Water bottle and maybe food. In...

Re: Scorpius at Bishan Park --- 21 Apr 2012 @ 3:51 AM

Friday not too bad eh..... Haze levels could be lower though (it's just average from what i can see here to Batam island as a gauge). Seeing was actually very good, i could observe "BCC Hotel" in Batam with the red and blue neon light without much dancing. Actually I like Scorpius a lot, y...

correct me if I am wrong, the sky bridge is not really open to public right?
It's open, $5. Till 2200hrs for 50th storey though, and you have to get past those turnstiles.

After 2200hr i will go to 26th storey, not too bad.

I could go to 50th storey again at 0600hr, very dark then.

Re: Good Viewing Locations in Singapore

The easiest way to test would be to use a big basin. Basically you can only do about max 18" diameter basin. That sounds good, 12" can go through. But then the base of a 8" dob is already 20+". I have posted on CN before. This affects both 50th storey and 26th storey SB...

Re: Good Viewing Locations in Singapore

Where is Sky park @ rooftop? Pinnacle @ duxton. Sorry, it should be Sky bridge. If they do not put turnstiles there I surely would whack a dob or something. There is going to be a similar one at Strathmore ave/Queenstown, 47 storeys...HDB. Skyville. Edit- sorry i think Skyville is not that suitable...

Re: Northern Lights video by Lorenzo Comolli

Can really see how good the quality of the air there. So clear, it's like totally transparent even for 20km away. So even with some light pollution (ie the moon, check out the first scene), the zenith would still be pretty dark.... Of course that is already a pretty dark site to begin with. At my In...

Re: Pls help. May I know where's Cancer and Taurus now?

Finally after 1 whole lousy week of clouds and haze, at long last clear skies tonight! (it was pretty lousy during evening time actually but cleared). And of course moonrise is not due till 1230hrs. Wah Gary, i think you will like it here. Went to the lower SB and saw a lot more, coz after 2200h the...

Re: Pls help. May I know where's Cancer and Taurus now?

Netted M44 in Cancer with the help of Stellarium, with just a 7 x 50 and eyes are not dark adapted as i did that just abt 5 mins after leaving the bright lobby, managed to do it as they switched off the skybridge lights. It seems that they switch off the lights at the Skybridge (save $$$) from Mon-T...

Re: Pls recommend video camera

Heh heh...Gary, it's more for the faint fuzzies. Globular Clusters I think more or less within reach of my 6" refractor at least for those interesting ones. Galaxies can forget about it. I ran some numbers through the online limiting magnitude for telescopes. The 6" refractor is pretty clo...
