Re: Upgrade path for planetary/dso

I think all EQ setups in singapore have that problem because of our latitude. But since SCT is usually back heavy, the C6 should still work. I have seen someone building a custom wedge for C8. you may want to try that. its a $200 investment.. but yes if you have budget, a dedicated EQ platform will ...

anyone heard from Alvin (great red spot)

Hi all

Is Alvin still active on the forum.. his last few posts are from 2018 and I was particularly interested in a berlebach uni tripod and a omegon bino that he had posted.

I also dropped a whatsapp on his mobile, I can see the two blue ticks next to message but no response.

cheers
Andy

Re: WTB - Fujinon 10x50 binoculars

The 10x50 is what I am also looking for.. the brand new ones are really expensive and used ones show up very rarely. But based on my experience of Fujinon 7x50, these are not handholdable for long time. a 8x42/50/56 are easier to hand hold. I already have a heavier bino 20x60 for tripod mounted view...

Re: Astroberry on Raspberry Pi 3B

yes.. but you should be able to manually point it to sky, take a picture and plate solve it. once you have desired frame, you should also be able to guide it using a guidescope and guidecame.

Re: Beginner/Amateur Setup 2022

did you check red-dot finder's battery.. there is very little in red-dot finder to get spoilt. You could still run nexstar SE mounts via batteries until you get your new powertank. Just buy rechargeable batteries and put them in and it should work. My personal principle is to not touch the scope cor...

Re: Beginner/Amateur Setup 2022

I started with a 400mm achromat on a photo tripod. My first wish was moon and planets but soon realized that 400mm focal length was too small for lunar/planetary observation.. but it was good to point the scope to any part of the sky and start sweeping the sky. As I did more, I started familiarizing...
