íf you just use it to find your alignment stars, then there is not that much difference between the Telrad and a red dot finder. The real advantage of the Telrad are the rings which give you an accurate perspective of the FOV. You can use these to more accurately point your scope when you're lookin...

the telrad is huge (larger than a 8x50 finder) but uses AA batteries so will be cheaper to run. I prefer the bullseyes to the red-dot. Can mount using the included double-sided foam tape.
