Re: Planetary Obession (latest update: Saturn)
Sharing a recently acquired image of Jupiter, including a GRS and Io moon/shadow transit. Left image a stack from 3 min of data and right is from 10 min. Some rotation on the planet Jupiter can be seen in the right and a slight loss in detail. As always, my quest to figure out derotation continues, ...

WTS: Meade DSI (Original version) SOLD
Hi all, clearing some space, selling the original Meade DSI. Just in case anyone out there might be interested to get started with guiding at low cost. Thinking of letting go around $30.

Re: Cooling Canon 450D
Hi guys! Digging this old thread up because I've decided to begin cooling of my 450D too. Any chance if you could share how you powered the cooling module? I'm thinking of using AC via a 12V adapter of some sort (perhaps cigarette lighter) but no idea if that would be safe...

Re: Heads up for afocal astrophotography
Hmmm I don't think there is a need to drift align (I'm supposing you're using an eq mount). Just ensure your mount is well pointed to the north pole. I find carefully using my phones compass, inclinometer and GPS gives pretty decent results. For stacking you could refer to the guide on Registax webs...

Re: Heads up for afocal astrophotography
Hi haejae! Good to know you're taking those first steps into astrophotography! Good job with those photos :) I was about that age when I started astrophotography too (not that I'm very much older now hahaha) Although it's not 100% essential to have a computerised mount, it's highly recommended to be...

Re: Planet Jupiter!
Managed to image Mars last thursday night under decent seeing. I've also begun to learn to use WinJupos which, unfortunately like all other astrophotography software, is not very intuitive. Half of me says that I've done it OK but I still feel quite clueless about whats going on. Would be grateful i...
