That is indeed a very good scope and an awesome deal. Our school also bought our scope from Robin. Very good for astrophotography and reliable.

You need to change the connection cable connecting the star book to the mount. Had the same problem.

Which school is that? From my experience in a school club, I will suggest starting with a dobsonian (meade). Simplicity with a big aperture and rugged for beginner use. Will cost below 2k.
