Hello!
I'm getting into bird photography and looking for a tripod/monopod and head to support a lens/body that weighs 3 kg and is about 75cm long in total.
If anyone has equipment that you'd like to let go, do PM me and see it its suitable and work out a price.
Thanks!

Re: WTB: Guide-scope for 80mm triplet
For an 80mm triplet get a 50mm finder-guider. Its far more portable and very convenient to use thanks to its much larger field of view

Re: Recommendation on eyepiece kit
I agree with the general sentiment that bundled eyepieces are generally of lower quality. Most importantly they tend to be less comfortable to use than better eyepieces sold separately. You don't really need a whole set of eyepieces to gain maximum benefit from your telescope. Consider using the bud...

Re: Polar Alignment for GEM
Hello! First off and very important: Is the mount you are using capable of adjusting down to 0 degrees of latitude? A lot of mounts are not able to do so as they were really designed for the American market (which is probably the world's biggest astronomy market) and no part of the USA approaches 0 ...

Re: Telescope for deep sky photography
Hello and welcome to the club! For astrophotography, the most important factor is the mount. You need a decent quality Equatorial mount for any success at all. This is because the mount must track the stars very accurately as they move across the sky or you will end up with smudged pictures. Don't b...

Re: Help getting a Starter Scope
Hi Jeannie, I have the 130p as well. Its a very nice scope and very capable for the price. Although initial collimation is less easy to set up because of the cost saving considerations of the design, I find that once collimated it tends to stay in collimation, especially if you snug down the longer ...

Re: Biggest aperture to fit in car boot
This greatly depends on the model of the car :) I can fit my 14" into my rear seat of a standard 1.6L Sedan car and leave the boot space for an AP setup, plus have a front seat passenger. However, an Obsession 18" would be just too big to fit into the doorway. An MPV, however, would be abl...
