Hi Toolkit, Errr, must admit I know very little about stars  so there's no way I can show my children which one is which. All I can do now is read to them but don't know what to say when they ask me to show them Jupiter in the sky :(. That's why I am looking forward to this coming star party :...

Yes Toolkit, I strongly agree with you about introducing astronomy to children. Do you use a binoculars with your son? Tell me what other things you do with him. River, from my experience kids will do things themselves when there are no maids around :). And you have to tell them your expectation in ...

Alvin & Wee Nghee, I once told a teacher friend many children here are deprived because their curiousity is not satisfied. Parents are too busy working and most children are parked in front of TV or they just play computer games. Nice to hear your school organizes star party, Wee Nghee. Children...

Thanks Teacher Alvin for the link.

Good to know there are 2 teachers (Teacher Alvin & Teacher Winnie) on board.

Hope to meet up with all of you in this coming star party.

Wow, didn't expect so many responses in 1 day. I like the intrepretation of Jupiter & Saturn and Alvin you are right, my son (3.5 years old) said he wants Jupiter because it is the biggest and my daughter told me long ago the ring of Saturn is beautiful! Oh dear, Jupiter is in charge of law and ...

Hahaha, that's so funny and appropriate too! I just told my son about Mars and I received violent protest saying that Jupiter belongs to him.

So glad to hear from a fellow parent who exposes children to astronomy. Hope to meet up with your family sometimes.

Lily

Hello from a beginner

Hello All, Recently my children (aged 3.5 and 7) asked me a lot of questions about star, asteroid and how it hit the earch and why it killed dinasours etc. There are many questions that I could not answer coz I know very little about astronomy. I am really glad to have found this forum. So I will re...
