Re: 5" vs 6" SCT viewing/ astrophotography in Singapore
Long focal lengths are like looking through a straw. It is very hard to locate and see anything for starters especially locally. Perhaps a wider field scope of the 4in refractor class would be more suitable, a good compromise for visual and AP.

Re: A Newbie's Shameless Adventures in Imaging
Not sure, but it is slightly elliptical apparently, so perhaps this is close to the real shape?

WTS - Starlight Xpress TRIUS SX25C (OSC CCD)-REDUCED!
Have a Trius SX25C OSC CCD that I have never used, other than to try darks and bias frames at home. This is the latest current TRIUS version with the 3 mini-USB2.0 hub version. Additional cooler fan included. NEW = USD$3350 or SGD$5000(if GST 7% added) Asking a very reasonable price, now REDUCED to ...

So for newbies (notice small cap 'n'... :P ), I have this ONE KEY point: BUY the best MOUNT/TRACKER you can afford. This will go far in your quest for perfect stars and detailed DSO imagery. Put...

Re: A Newbie's Impression of the Samyang/Rokinon 135 F2 for
I have a right angle finder for the camera so easier, followed by a few test shot to fine tune framing. But generally the fov is wide enough to get into the ballpark.

A Newbie's Impression of the Samyang/Rokinon/Milvus(newly added comments)135 F2 for AP
As a departure from my earlier reviews, I would like to write about something predating those green/blue scopes. This was about 2 years ago. I had wanted a wide field lens for casual AP while on holiday, as and when the opportunity arises, with the family around and only a few hours of night time av...
