SOLD: Meade 10" SCT F/10

Selling my under-utilized Meade 10" SCT, plucked from an LX50 EMC. The scope is in pretty good condition, except a very shallow dent in the side of the tube. Cosmetically there are some blemishes, but nothing too serious. Comes with the RACI finder but not the focuser. https://farm5.staticflick...

I read about it in a recent Sky and Telescope Issue.

EQ Platform for Planetary Scope

My DIY planetary scope has fast become my favorite scope to use, not least because this summer boasted, on some nights, up to 4 easily visible planets (Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars). Coupled with the DSCs, it was easy to find the planets at 133x, and bumping up to 240x when I felt like it. However, ...

Re: Digital Setting Circles working with SkySafari

I converted the system to a dual-encoder DSC, and it now performs lag-free in SkySafari. Really happy with it.

Re: AstroSpectroscopy - a type of astrophotography

Yes I think that's the one I got. It doesn't cover the whole filter, but of you orientate it right it should cover an entire sensor, up to Micro4/3rds.

Re: AstroSpectroscopy - a type of astrophotography

Hi Kochu, Glad it was helpful to you. Just a word on the cheap grating though - the efficiency seems to be a bit low. That is, the direct star image is quite bright compared to the diffracted image. Although it makes a serviceable spectroscope, the SA-100 may yield better results. The grating is mad...

Re: AstroSpectroscopy - a type of astrophotography

One of the biggest discoveries in astronomy was that of the nature of nebula. In the early days, it was unclear whether nebulae were under-resolved stars or gas clouds. It was believed that the former was the more likely explanation. So, it was a big deal when it was demonstrated that the nebulae ha...
