Re: Dob Debut Sidewalk Astro 3 or 4 Oct (not-new-scope event

How about: "TTimothy" Twenty-Two Inch Massive Optical Telescope for HeavenlY views Or, for brevity: "TTIM" Twenty-Two Inch Masterpiece. (considering who the mirror maker is, 'masterpiece' would not be an exaggeration.) Btw, special request for the evenings of your 3rd or 4th Oct ...

Re: Dob Debut Sidewalk Astro 3 or 4 Oct (not-new-scope event

Congrats, Richard!!!

I believe it's the first telescope in Singapore to exceed 0.5m in aperture!

Why not give it some technical-based name, like HM-DSSTT or Half Metre Deep Sky Survey Tropical Telescope.

Definitely must go down to see it!

Excellent images, Ivan! Thanks for sharing.

The Veil is one of my favourite DSOs. In the eyepiece it looks like mysterious ribbons of fire.

Re: Stars and Zodiacal Light: Mersing Trip report(22-24 Aug2

Here's the same image of the zodiacal light, to which I've added annotations and a line showing the position of the ecliptic. The line was carefully drawn based on what's shown in a planetarium software (SkySafari for Android). http://img15.imagefra.me/i892/starfinder/q400_f40_u8s7b.jpg The followin...
