Re: Dobs Mount for C8-NGT
Its a lot of factors but teflon is the most popular "lubricant" My 14" uses Teflon pads and a sort of slightly rough almost formica like material to interface. Result is decent stiction but very smooth movements. Gary has previously tried manually tracking mine at 450x, smooth enough...

Re: Dobs Mount for C8-NGT
Falling backwards as in going beyond Zenith? Then that would be because your tube is backward heavy. I see you have both a Telrad and a 50mm finder (total about 2lbs) bolted on to the top of your scope. When horizontal this makes very little difference but when vertical because the moment of force ...

Re: Dobs Mount for C8-NGT
Infact i am more than happy if anyone can get the whole scope from me and i can go for 10" instead..haha Post a thread in Buy & Sell and state your price. I suspect you may have potential buyers since shipping a 8" inch solid tube dob from overseas will cost quite a bit. That's will b...

Re: Celestron Omni XLT 150mm Reflector vs Refractor
Hi, yes astro-photography is in mind but of course inthis area I will not be looking for the "extreme pro" quality and hence is generally able to accept moderate end. In fact more interested in astronomy observing itself and because I am into photography itself, hence thought it will be a...

Re: Dobs Mount for C8-NGT
That's quite normal. You might either want to shift your tube rings upwards if the bottom doesn't hit the ground board or add counterweights to the base. I have tried balancing for normal obs altitude and it perform well, but once come to viewing straight at or near zenith the scope start to fall b...

Re: Dobs Mount for C8-NGT
Thanks guys for all your compliments. After some usage I still find somehow the mount isnt perfrom to what it suppose to be. Seems like it cant balance after my telrad and 9×50 finder add on.

Re: Celestron Omni XLT 150mm Reflector vs Refractor
3) Found out Orion Astrograph 8" f3.9 which is good for photo taking. Knowing that the bigger objective will allows deeper space viewing. How do u compare Orion to Celestron? Initially I was also looking at this Orion 8" Astrograph reflector but after coming to understand some pointers fro...
