yeah. it was pretty clear today morning(06 20). i was able to see alderbaran quite distinctly next to the radiant venus !

yeah... it is pitch dark. waving ur hands in front of u wouldn't have much effect. haha. hmmm.. as the horizons, there are a couple of gentle slopes nearby. however, they shouldn't be much of a concern. =p

When buying a telescope, you have to do your homework. That is, finding out what you intend to use the scope for(eg. planetary or deep sky). i dun think auroras have that many colours cramped together. most of the auroras appear to be bright red and green and span over very large areas of the sky.
