according to what ykchia had mentioned during the meteor presentation he gave , you can see more meteors at dawn than at dusk. i think the rates would pick up from 1am-2am onwards

will be clear if there are no high altitude clouds and sufficiently dark. i think the best views would be from the beach, but since the ZHR is about 20 (as what ykchia has mentioned), u might wait quite a while for the meteors.

we are blessed with clear skies today. saw it passing through sagittarius pretty fast though. good experience !

oxygn , alternatively u can proceed to lee kong chian reference library at victoria street to photocopy the star atlases they have. one of the books i found provided star charts with a list of interesting objects u can find in that region of the sky ( eg . globulars , galaxies etc..)

i dont think u want to shake ur hand throughout the night to keep the flashlight alive. probably an army L torch from beach road will suffice. $2.50 for the medium size torch ($5 for the big one) and some cheap red cellophane paper will get u going.
