Hi,
Welcome to SIngAstro! [smilie=hi.gif]

It basically mean when viewing from some points along the eclipse path, it's a total solar eclipse, when view from other points, it's an annular (ring) solar eclipse.

This happen when the Moon is just at the right distance to cause a total eclipse on some points along the eclipse path, but due to the curvature of the Earth, the Moon is slightly further away on other points along the eclipse path. As a result, the Moon appear slightly smaller on those points along the eclipse path and cannot totally block the Sun, so only annular solar eclipse can be seen.

Have a nice day.

For info. Eclipse chasers may not need to travel far come 2016 and 2019.

Err... The Sun is just 3 degree above horizon when the eclipse end... So... I think the chance to "see" it is very low as 3 degree is just too low.

Have a nice day.

For Singapore, in 2016 only can see partial. In 2019 depending on where you are in Sg, either partial (north after somewhere along Yio Chu Kang Road) or annular from AMK (in seconds) to Sentosa up to 2.5 mins. It happens around 1:22 pm.

If go further south like in Bintan (center of eclipse line), can see up to 4+ mins.
