Any comments on KONUS?

Post by chrisyeo »

Has anyone heard/used a Konus telescope before?

They seem to offer rather attractively priced scopes and their 10" newt seems to have good reviews.

Wow chris, u seem 2b catching on aperture fever quite quickly! Heh, I think the main problem with these babies is that their equatorial drives are HEAVY, so u end up spending lots of $$$ shipping counterweights.

Also a factor is the lack of dealers to purchase it from, even in the US, since not all of them willing to ship overseas. I think www.adorama.com does entertain foreign order though, and they stock or at least deal in konus i believe.

No no, I'm not planning to buy but it was the only review I came across.

Konus -SkyWatcher

Post by Jim McGill »

Hi,

Vin is right to say Konus is similar to Sky-Watcher products.

For McGill's latest promotion, the 10" Sky-Watcher Dob is only available at $1,300 (nett). Home delivery is optional at only $15. But it's really a monster, so you shld consider how you're going to store it first!

Details not yet uploaded to our company website. Delivery period: Around 2 weeks.

Thanks.

Dark Skies,
Jim, McGill
