Stargazing at Yosemite National Park

Post by Gary »

Stargazing at Yosemite National Park. Wow. Wow. Wow! And you thought John Dobson was exaggerating about this place.

Note to newcomers - the colourful views of the celestial objects are NOT what you will see visually through the telescopes or with naked eyes at the sky.

Nice sharing Gary!

The night sky there simply looks fantastic. [smilie=admire.gif] And kudos to these ppl, who may have to travel hrs to get to the Park to observe.

You are welcomed! Incidentally, Yosemite is in the news lately for the hantavirus:

Oh yes. It is rather unfortunate.

I visited Yosemite more than 15 yrs ago. Very nice place. Every time I visit Night Safari I will inevitably think of Yosemite :mryellow:

Thanks Gary for sharing the video. I was very impressed by the light out policy when I was there in 2004. I appreciate it alot more now that I'm into stargazing :)

I have been to Yosemite to observe before years ago. I must say it is extremely clear and probably one of the best observing sites! I used my then C5 and the ring nebula looked better through it then my 12.5 inch dob in Malaysian skies! No exaggeration... It is something I remember. Looking through the bino was also a thrill as the stars literally fill up the entire FOV where ever the sky was.
