SINGASTRO featured in Weekender Issue #7

Post by Gary »

Hi Friends,

SINGASTRO and stargazing are featured in the latest issue #7 of Weekender. You can read it here (pdf):
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/110509812/Weeke ... ue_No7.pdf (Page 9, in Hobbies section).

Weekender is a free publication by a social enterpise which started publishing in early October this year. It has a circulation rate of 230,000 and they are also delivered to homes directly during the weekend. You can find more about it at their official facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/weekendersgp.

In appreciation of Weekender spreading the word for our hobby, if you have a facebook account, will be great if you can like them and perhaps send some positive feedback for the latest issue. :) Stargazing aside, do download and read their previous issues too. They are informative and well written and you may even get to discover new hobbies like army tank modelling or even shooting a real gun with real bullets. It is quite inspiring to read some of these articles and get to know people who are passionate about what they do.

I will be posting about more that stargazing article in my blog later but just take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all singastro members who came and supported the sidewalk sessions and those who sold your astro gear to me. Without you guys and gals, this article would not have been possible.

wow..your enthusiasm never fails to amaze me Gary. If we can find out what makes you tick, we would have solved our future energy problem!
In anycase, thanks for sharing our hobby with the masses and publicizing singatro too in the process ! That picture of you makes you look like you are floating! :)
Good to clear up misconceptions that astronomy is an expensive hobby as it reduces barrier to entry. Keep it up, Bro!

Gary,

one day we must re-do that photo of you pointing to the star. My idea and concept is got ECP open field then put a long bench there with ppl siting on it in a row with them pointing to the southern sky (centaurus, crux). Perhaps even a person using laser pointer. I think that will be picture perfect

Hi Guys. Thanks for the encouragement.

The credit also goes to singastro administrators and moderators for maintaining and moderating this web forum for so many years. Else there might not be such a forum to recommend to the public by now.

@fizzy123: The main enjoyment I get from taking that photo is the spontaneity of that clear-sky moment. To prepare for such an elaborate second attempt feels a bit too staged. :)
