We had a first-hand experience using different weather forecasts during the last solar eclipse, including some new online sites which we didn't know about but was shown to us by some fellow Americans on the same flight. Bottom line is, they work best when the prediction is 'bad', and does not tell you how good the weather will be, even if the forecast is for the next 24 hours.
For example, if it says 'Thunderstorm', probability of it occurring is very high. However, if it says "Clear skies", or "Partly cloudy", probability of it happening is only 50%, IMHO.
Cheers!
