If I'm not wrong, aren't these 2 serving different purposes? The broadband "cuts" light pollution, whereas the narrowband is for "enhancing" nebulae colours.. I see no basis for comparing which one is better.

If you're defining "better" as which one can show nebula nicer in a light polluted night sky, then it should be the narrowband.

Hi,
If you want to get only one filter, get the narrowband (UHC) filter as it's the most useful filter for observing nebula. I think Orion narrowband filter is one of the cheapest narrowband filter available.

Have a nice day.

You can try Thousand Oaks also.
Or if you want to get locally Astro science has the Celestron range.
I have the Celestron broadband filter. These are used to block the orange sodium light from street lights, hence they are called light pollution filters (LPF). The narrow band types are used to allow only light from the nebula from coming through hence increase their visibility not be boosting their reception but cutting the interfering light.
