Its a matter of perspective. Adult books generally mean books for adults, i.e. not pokemon or power rangers type. Of course, "adult" can also invoke a different interpretation !orly_andico wrote:"adult" books? :-D

The Backyard Astronomer's Guide is "adult" enough for me!
On a serious note, anyone wanna buy it? Maybe can buy 3 copies together.

I already have it. Its a great reference book. It explains in detail almost everything under the sun except for actual star-hopping I think. You will need "Turn Left at Orion" or "Celestial Sampler" by Sue French for that.Gary wrote:The Backyard Astronomer's Guide is "adult" enough for me!

I have the Sue French book too!
The backyard book's older version features alot of BW photos. The second revised version is updated with more colour photos and thicker too. Not sure if there is a third edition.
BTW, why didn't anybody mention Astroscientific? They may not have 2 shelves but I think all the key books are stocked there and you can pick up your equatorial planisphere and star charts too.

Yupe. The version selling at Borders wheelock now is the third edition.

Personally, regarding books from astroscientific, their location is a bit far from my place. With one single relatively short bus trip, I can visit both Kinokuniya and Borders and they have regular discount coupons in the newspapers. But of course, those staying nearer to the west may find it more economically to buy books from astroscientifc. Atmosphere-wise, astroscientific is hard to beat. Who doesn't enjoy the experience of book-shopping with cool telescopes and big astro posters surrounding you?

You must go to harris at suntec ( wonder if it is still there ) to pick this book...Cosmo , a field trip - Giles Sparrow
Large book ie 400mm x 500mm, 1 " thick table copy ... featuring Sedna as well. . Excellent print.
I bought 2 years back ... and is like only $32.17, after 50% discount from $75 MSRP. ( something like that )

I think I saw the same Cosmos book in Borders also. So 30% off might be the next best thing after 50%.
Harris at suntec looks like no more. Only Great World, Jurong Point and 313@somerset :
