Ah, but there's no point flying there just to buy that $599 eyepiece :) And there's no change for items shipped in.
Although I'm wondering if its actually cheaper to fly and pickup for large dobs, seeing how the shipping cost can easily top USD1K, not counting GST.....

Actually, to avoid GST on items bought during travels is to remove the packaging and treat it as "used". It will be unreasonable to charge you GST if you already own that item right? ;)

But if you buy it as a gift and intend to retain the mint packaging then you got no choice. That being said, I did walked thru the Singapore customs with a new lens in box as I was honestly ignorant of the GST rules back then.
