Its no doubt a very fine instrument but on a practical note I think you'll get a lot more mileage with a large reflector or RC/CDK as far as astrophotography is concerned, cost for cost. For example, a 20" CDK with Ascension 200 mount will cost about 45K-50K USD, not including the observatory, of course :) incidentally, a large swath of southern US desert has seeing below 0.5" regularly

Its as much Telescope as it is Art :)
No such luck for me: No time or resources to take a special astronomy holiday in Southern USA, although I've been toying with the idea of setting up a remote observatory. It'll run about 100K SGD for a 17" CDK with Paramount ME and related CCD/Electronics. Expensive for sure but if you think that people spend at least 10K on their setups for lower end equipment and at best image 15-20 nights a year, then 100K for at least 200 fully photometric nights sounds like a deal.
Heh.... now where's that spare 100K I kept stuffed in the old sofa....

The best refractor is the refractor you will use most frequently? [smilie=embarrassed.gif]
