Disrupted Delivery of S &T Mag

Post by kochu »

I have been subscribing to Sky and Telescope Magazine Print Edition for nearly 10 years now.
But, of late, the print copy is never delivered in time . In fact out of Oct to Jan 14 issues , I have received only Nov Issue. On reminding S&T they informed that Oct issue is out of print.
Still no signs of Dec and Jan issues. Luckily Digital Issues appear on time
On the other hand no problems with Astronomy Magazine. Right up to Jan14 issue arrived on time.
Anyone out there with similar problems with S&T Print issues????.

not sure if this is related.. but my deliveries of (print) IEEE Spectrum are also very sporadic. Have complained to them but still haven't gotten my back issues.

Update on S & T .

S&T did not send any more print issues to me though the subscription remained valid till 2014 end.
So now they have agreed to refund the amount.
The only problem is that they will stop the subscription for Digital issue also as it was clubbed with Print copy subscription.
If I want Digital copy, I have to make a fresh subscription.
This development after over ten years of subscription.

No such problems with subscription of 'Astronomy Magazine'

Brgds

Strange. S&T still sending me subscription offers as I was a former subscriber many years ago. My guess is they have a very bad courier service and too far far away to bother or rectify...and yes, no such problems with Astronomy. Once many years back they missed one issue but I ended up receiving 2 copies when I complained later...:)

Conclusion..and an afterthought..

S&T sent me a USD Cheque for 37 $ .
I cashed it against my USD a/c , but not before bank took its Pound of Flesh.
3.5 $ for Postal charges,
5 $ for Bank commission and
7.5 $ Agency Charges--Total 16 $ US

On hindsight I would have felt better if S&T did not send me the cheque.
I might have consoled myself that the money is spent on a better cause 'Astronomy'.

Hi Kochu
Ever considered the digital edition? No mail process to screw up the delivery unless your telco's broadband network goes down!
You can view it on any tablet. For that "magazine feel", I think the best solution would be the Samsung Tab Pro 12.2"! :)

I had Digital edition also which was tied up with Print subscription ever since S&T started Digital edition in 2010 or 2011. When I terminated Print edition, that also got terminated automatically . So now I have to subscribe exclusively for Digital edition.
But then Digital Editions are not so Toilet -friendly as Print editions. :D .

Thats how that famous magazine of that great country promote ASTRONOMY.
and they force people to buy expensive com;tablet (to view their magazine) and by refusing to provide further update to WINDOW XP--hence generating tons and tons of electronic trash while filling their pockets(with those one of the kind fees, carbon tax etc).Thats how they contribute to the environment.Ha,Ha.

Use a hand-friendly Ipad Mini or Galaxy Tab 8...they are very light. if you eyes are still good, a Tab 3 Lite has a 7" screen and cost only $199... :)

Cheers
