A red dot finder actually came from those bb gun target sights. It has a glass plate and a red point is projected onto it. This makes it seem like a 'laser sight' when you point the the telescope to find objects. A telrad is different, it has 3 concentric circles as the 'targetting system'. It acts like a Head Up Display. The 3 circles have angular diameters of 4, 2 and 0.5 degrees. The meaning of unit magnification means there is not magnification in the sight. Finders on the other hand has specs like 6x30 or 9x50. The first digit means magnification 6 times and objective lens of 30mm (for 6x30). 9x50 means magnification 9 times and 50mm objective lens. The objective is the main lens used to collect the light. The measurement of 50mm means the lens have a 50mm diameter. Finderscopes or finders are generally inverted image as in most astronomy telescopes.

Hi LimCanopus Lim wrote:I got few items to sell
1. 2 6x30 finders
2. Celestron Ultima 7.5mm EP (very good condition)

What brand is your finder? Is it an erect finder? How old is it? comes with a standard dovetail mount?
How much are you selling?
Cheers

I have a suggestion here which you guys might want to consider. Had checked near my place Pasir Elias CC (2-3 stops from PR MRT) and there are 2 areas which might be suitable.
1. 2nd Floor Foyer
2. 4th Floor Rooftop Terrace
Rate for 4 hrs is around S$200 which we could share. I can contribute S$100 and the rest you guys (the intended sellers) share. If it is to be held at night we can even have a small Star Observation session.
Attached the pictures.
Need to reserve the place soonest if you guys want it.
1. 2nd Floor Foyer
Date: Saturday, 25/6
Time: 9am - 1pm or 6pm onward
Rate: S$50 for 1st 4 hr + S$120 for cleanup + S$25 per additional hr
Table @ S$2, chair @ S$0.60
Good Points:
- open areas & access for table display
- good access to N-NE-S direction
- can use place till 12 midnight.
Bad Points:
- open to weather elements

Hi Wee Kiong
I am not prepared to pay for a venue since I am just breaking even on my sales. And I am a miser.
I can get an air-conditioned function room at Compass Hts for free (above Sengkang MRT station, same location as the Singastro Equipment Fest) but I won't be able to confirm the date and time since I can only book when I get back to Sg. Given the last-minute booking, it will have to be on weeknites. How does that sound?
cheers
