Hi Michael
There's no such thing. As the TASOS president is also the Celestron Distributor here, there are more Celestron scopes especially in the schools then Meade. Most Meade are either purchased from Wee Kiong or overseas.
You can do a scan of the OTA prices. I can't give you a ballpark figure because some are willing to lose big when they sell while others are not.
I suggest you scan out buy-sell section or check out the prices at www.astromart.com. Adding in the shipping cost and mabye you will have a rough idea how much to budget. Bear in mind Americans buy their stuff much cheaper also.

Its the same tip. Shipping prices especially from the US is quite steep.
Sometimes the shipping cost more than the product! For large items like 8" scope...or worse 8" Goto scopes, shipping prices for the latter can go up to several hundred dollars not forgetting such a big package will attract GST.

I would like to highlight two other issues for you to consider if you are going to buy oversea SCTs from Astromart:

1. SCTs are mass-produced items, and since you cannot check its optical quality, you have a higher probability of buying a 'lemon.'

2. if not packed adequately, your SCT package may arrived with a broken corrector plate.

I would rather buy a second-hand SCT in S'pore than from abroad, even if it is somewhat cheaper.
