How much you willing to buy these EC-125

Post by Lee »

Going to bid (school wants to condemn) and maybe sell off the 2 units Meade EC125 with the following specs:-

1. Meade EC-125 OTA Optically > 85%
2. Aluminium tripod, Autostar, 26mm eyepiece
3. Fork Mount - cracked at certain places
4. Condition as it is - no warranty & testing
5. Self collect

Please let me know your interest and your preferred price by 0900 tomorrow.

Thanks.

What do you mean by optically >85% ?
Is there dust/fungus/scratches etc that will cause some deterioration in the image?

<15 percent covered with dust, fungus and scratches? Or only 85 percent of the aperture is useable?

Sorry for not getting back earlier.

I'm a little bit surprised on the responses.
S$300 even w/o the OTA is worth it; i.e the Autostar, fork mount & tripod.
The OTA alone is worth > S$700.
Optically the lens system looks as good as new to me.
But I have not look thru it so I gave it about 85%.

If I managed to bid successfully (probably not more than 3 bidders) I most likely sell it off for >S$1000 each.
Both systems were worth around S$7k when the school purchased them few years back.

If the OTA is indeed in good condition, then it is a steal at that price. However, as mentioned in your first post, we are expected to accept it as it is without testing. This is the part that scares off potential bidders.

If you had bought it thru Astromart (freight itself will set you back) you won't get the chance to test it as well. Sometime I was wondering if I put up my working Meade 7" LX200 for S$500 here people will still hesistate and rather put up more money buying thru Astromart.

I assure you, if you put up your 7" LX200 on sale for $500, it won;t be what you expect.

Wanna try? :)

...also, these are condemned by a school. Think about it...
I think posting some pics on the stuff might clarify the conditions.

Hi,
If you had bought it thru Astromart (freight itself will set you back) you won't get the chance to test it as well.
That's because we are unable to test it not because the seller said that you can't test it. I think the astromart seller will not stop you if you want to go to his place to check out the item that he is selling. Hmm... I think elton got this experience... ha ha ha :P :P :P

Anyway, by putting a "cannot test" statement, of course a lots of buyer will hesistate... even they don't plan to test the scope in the first place. It just feel not right and a bit not logical especially when you are selling a scope that you said is in working condition.

Good luck in your bid and have a nice day.
