STAROPTICS SCIENTIFIC IS ANNOUNCING YET ANOTHER GREAT PRODUCT FROM IOPTRON - THE LONG AWAITING IEQ45 WITH A PAYLOAD OF 20KGS (44IBS), SHOULD ABLE TO HOLD A 10" SCOPE.

FEATURES:

Specialized astrophotography mount ideal for entry-level and intermediate astrophotographers
Payload: 45 lbs
Mount weight: 25 lbs
Portable, compact, and sturdy German equatorial mount with the highest Payload/Mount ratio (1.7) in the category
ST-4 autoguiding port capable of reverse guiding with auto-protection
Periodic error correction (PEC)
Ultra-accurate tracking with temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO)
Gap-free structure for both R.A. and declination worms
Built-in 32-channel GPS
#8406 controller with Advanced SmartStarTM GoTo Technology and heating mechanism
Lowest working temperature: -20oC
RS232 port, with commands compatible with LX200
RS485 new command set completely open for user-defined control of the mount
Resolution: 0.09 arc second
Fits with both Vixen and Losmandy-type mounting plates

Yes you can! :) Select "Share this" followed by "Grab the HTML". Change "Medium" to "Large". Inside the copy and paste code, copy the "http://... .... .jpg".

US price $1500. note this is very new, has not been delivered in US yet, so no reviews yet. knowing iOptron, the weight rating is probably overstated. in this price range you can get a GM-8 albeit without the Gemini goto.

Well, hopefully local price will be cheaper than a CGEM plus shipping.
But then again, I must remind myself.... no scopes for a year!
Maybe just the mount? Hmmm......

eh, if u compare the size of the mount against the controller, this thing is pretty big. direct competitor to the eq-6 and cgem?

Given the price, it's direct competition for the CGEM and EQ-6 (actually costs a bit more). I think the first few dozen users will be guinea pigs, frankly.. until the firmware bugs are worked out.
